On Sunday September 27th the Chargers will be hosting the 0-2 Miami Dolphins. The Chargers will be without star running back Ladainian Tomlinson, center Nick Hardwick, rookie offensive tackle Louis Vasquez and Jamal Williams, who is out for the season with torn triceps injury. Miami has no significant injuries to report. With the Bolts banged up they will be relying on Phillip Rivers and running back Darren Sproles to carry the load. Defensively the Chargers have to stop the run against a Miami team that is 3rd in the league in rushing with 167.5 rush yards per game lead by running backs Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. Defensively Miami gives up over 23 points per game. This will be a big game for both teams as the Chargers need to get a win with tough opponents in their schedule yet to come and Miami still needs their first win. Anymore losses and both teams can start to kiss their playoff hopes goodbye. This game will be televised at 1:15 Pacific Time on CBS. Tune in and watch our beloved Bolts pull out the victory.
After a 93% accuracy rate on picking winners last year, I’m ready to prove my past performance wasn’t just a fluke.Power PicksThese 3 teams have tough opponents this week, but will do what it takes to win.San Diego over Miami – the Bolts have too many weapons to lose this game in spite of their spontaneous injury outbreak. Miami’s secondary is struggling (the Phins have yet to grab an interception) and they’ll have to rely on more than Ronnie and Ricky to keep up offensively.Pittsburgh over Cincinnati – The Steelers have historically crushed their division rivals, I see Cinci laboring against a Pittsburgh defense ranked 8th against the run and 19th against the pass.Washington over Detroit – Detroit doesn’t have a chance to win a game till Week 8 vs. St. Louis, yeah I said it.
Game Day GamblesThis week’s 3 likely losers won’t be beaten.New York Jets over Tennessee – the J-E-T-S Jets have rolled over their last 2 opponents. The Titans (lack of) passing offense and defense will secure the Jets 3rd straight win.
Atlanta over New England – the Pats are getting a little too much respect in this tough match-up. RB Michael Turner has already amassed 170 rushing yards and Matt Ryan is 4th in the NFL with a 108.5 passer rating. The Pats will need more than home field advantage to win this game.Denver over Oakland – the Broncos won’t need a miracle to beat Oakland with JaMarcus putting their opponent’s jersey on every week. Also, Kyle Orton has yet to throw an interception, count on Denver to do what it takes to not lose this one.The RestGreen Bay over St. LouisPhiladelphia over Kansas CityNY Giants over Tampa BayBaltimore over ClevelandHouston over JacksonvilleNew Orleans over BuffaloDallas over CarolinaSan Francisco over MinnesotaIndianapolis over ArizonaChicago over Seattle
PB Bar & Grill continues to be one of the best places to watch the game in San Diego. Mounted across the walls are a ridiculous 125+ flat screens guaranteeing you won’t miss any of the NFL action. The Sunday breakfast buffet served from 9am to 1pm is well worth the $15 cost with freshly made omelets and waffles, dishes of steak and eggs, country potatoes, bacon, a desert station and much more. PB’s also has great drink specials and an excellent selection of beers on tap. A surprisingly even ration of men to women promises there will be more sausage at the buffet than at the bar.Pacific Beach Bar & Grill860 Garnet Ave.San Diego, CA(858) 272-4745
September 20th, 2009 was a home opener to forget. On a hot, sunny Sunday in San Diego our beloved Bolts lost a heart-breaker to the Baltimore Ravens. If the saying is true that defense wins championships, than the Chargers could be in real trouble this season. Baltimore rushed for a crushing 130 yards and 2 touchdowns. Combine that with terrible officiating and you have a team that is 1-1 instead of 2-0. This could be Coach Norv Turner's last season in San Diego if the Chargers continue to under perform. If he does understand the expectations of this team, he needs to get the Chargers on track before we will be, yet again watching another team celebrate a Super Bowl victory.
