Charger vs Raiders preview

On Sunday November 1st the Chargers renew their heated rivalry with the hated Oakland Raiders.  In their season opener the Raiders fell to the Charger 24-20.  Both teams played tough physical football, and the game wasn't decided until the very end.  This game saw the Chargers escape with a win, and lose five players to injury.  Look for San Diego's defense to apply more pressure to one of the worst quarterbacks in the league JaMarcus Russell.  Oakland has a platoon of tough running backs, that need to be accounted for at all times. Raiders running backs Justin Fargas and Michael Bush will split those duties.  I think  offensively the Chargers need to put together a game plan to get their running backs Darren Sproles and Ladanian Tomlinson more involved.  Rushing on Oakland's 30th ranked defense should be easy, but it all comes down to execution from the offensive line. I predict the Chargers will have what it takes to beat this team, besides every other team has.  Final Score: Bolts 35  Raiders 10

Sunday Morning Smackdown

On Sunday October 25th the Chargers played like a team possessed. They marched into Arrowhead Stadium and crushed the Kansas City Chiefs 37-7. San Diego’s offense ran up and down the field all day long. Charger QB Phillip Rivers had a great game with 268 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. Running Back Ladanian Tomlinson had 23 rushes for 78 total yards, and had a TD called back on a substitution penalty. Defensive coordinator Ron Rivera had his guys ready to play. Chargers D’ had four sacks and three key interceptions. Fullback Jacob Hester blocked a punt and pounced on the ball in the end zone for the score. Chiefs QB Matt Cassel looked like he was playing JV football. He threw for 97 yards one score and three picks. Chiefs Running Back Larry Johnson contributed with 49 rushing yards on 16 attempts. Chargers finally had a great game offensively, but still had trouble scoring in the red zone. Chargers scored only one time in four opportunities near the KC goal line. When the Chargers correct this problem I believe they will finally be a playoff team, but for now let’s enjoy a great win.
