Chargers vs. Bengals preview

On Sunday the San Diego Chargers (10-3) will be hosting the Cincinnati Bengals (9-4) in a pivotal game that will have important playoff implications involved.   If the Bolts win they will clinch the AFC west division and earn a playoff birth.  If they lose the Bengals will win the AFC north division.  This will be a very emotional game for Cincinnati following the untimely death of 26 year old wide receiver Chris Henry, who passed away from head injuries sustained while falling out of a moving truck.  Chris Henry was a father, a teammate and someone, who took steps to change his life in the right direction.  He will be missed, by his friends, family and NFL teammates.  There is more to life than football, and a tragedy like this can lift any team emotionally.  This is the exact reason why the Chargers should not take this team lightly.  QB Phillip Rivers needs to come out of the gate, and help this team establish an early lead.  LaDainian Tomlinson needs to improve on his 3.2 yards per carry average and get into the end zone.  Defensively the key to victory is stopping Cinci running back Cedric Benson, who has 6 touchdowns and is averaging 4.1 yards per carry.   I believe that Cincinnati will be fired up for this game, but will fall short in the end.  Final score prediction Chargers: 27 Bengals: 17 Catch the action at 1:05p.m. Pacific time on CBS.

Bolts Lasso Cowboys for 8th straight win

Arlington, Texas- Cowboys coach Wade Phillip is no stranger when it comes to the Chargers defense.  Having been the Bolts defensive coordinator he knew what they were capable of.  In the second quarter of the game he tested that same defense at the goal line, and four times he was denied.  This is how the game was won, with great defense and a solid showing offensively.  Phillip Rivers spread the ball around to 8 different receivers.  LaDainian Tomlinson got into the act scoring a touchdown on the Bolts first drive.  This game wasn't decided until the fourth quarter.  TE Antonio Gates scored a touchdown, and Kicker Nate Kaeding sealed it with a field goal.  San Diego now has won 8 straight games, and has 16 wins in December.  One more win and the Chargers will clinch the AFC west and a first round bye in the playoffs.
