On Monday October 19th the Chargers(2-2) faced the Denver Broncos (5-0) In a game where the Chargers had two weeks to prepare for an undefeated team they came out flat. San Diego marched down the field and failed to convert on another red zone opportunity.
Nate Kaeding came on and kicked a 20 yard field goal. Broncos then received the chargers kickoff and broncos WR Eddie Royal returned it 93 yards for the score. The Bolts failed to convert on three key red zone chances and settled for field goals to the delight of Denver. Chargers offensive line failed to block for QB Phillip Rivers, and the Defense did what they have done all season not put pressure on the opposing QB. Denver QB Kyle Orton was not pressured at all giving him ample time to carve up San Diego's lack of Defense. Orton's stats 20-29 completions 229yds and two touchdowns. Phillip Rivers stats were 20-33 274yds and two touchdowns. Eddie Royal had two touchdowns on the kick return and punt return. Darren Sproles, also had a 77 yard punt return. Final score Denver 34-23 Bolts. Denver is 6-0 for a reason great Defense and solid fundamentals on Offense. Chargers need to start fixing the problem, before their playoff aspirations disappear.
